RIL now requires Master Password

First asked 881 days ago in Version RIL 2.0.1 (previously 0.9) Version: RIL 2.0.1 (previously 0.9) Browser: Firefox 3.5

Automatic upgrade to RIL 2.0.1 has brought me trouble. Whenever I load Firefox (FF), I now have to answer a question. The dialogue title is “Password Required”. The question is “Please enter the master password for the Software Security Device. OK/cancel”. It took me in excess of 1 hour to identify that this was coming from RIL. Since FF updated itself at the same time to v3.5.6, I initially assumed that the problem lay with FF, not an extension.
I have no idea why RIL is looking for the password but I should like to know how to eliminate this irrelevant dialogue. Unfortunately, the situation is compounded by the fact that I have forgotten the master password, or it has been corrupted. Corruption is the more likely as I know what the password was 1 month ago. I don’t believe that I have changed it. As I no longer have the password I am unable to deselect it in Options/Security.
I no longer have need of the master password as I have transferred all of my logins to RoboForm. So if you could tell me how I can completely abandon the master password and any saved info (of which there is none – or none that I need) I should be pleased.

Thanks for the suggestion to disable auto-sync. Unfortunately the 'autoSync' option is both checked and greyed-out. So I am unable to disable it. I presume it is greyed-out because I have not entered the correct master password. As I said earlier I have forgotten this password - or it has been corrupted . I have nothing to protect - so I would be happy to know how to disable the master password - without knowing it.

I have now solved the problem. I discovered for to delete the master password on FF Help.
I had lots of trouble locating the RIL icon. What you didn't say was that the icon is brand new - so I failed to see it in Customize.
All working now. Can I delete the old 0.9 RIL bookmarks?

    Hey Chris

    Glad you got it sorted.

If your old items are showing up in the new list, then you can remove the folder if you want.

I don't want to use the online storage at all. The extension should disable anything sync-related when no online account has been created.
