Google Reader star support in RIL?

First suggested 310 days ago in Version 0.9947 (Firefox) / Pro 1.3.1 (iPhone) Version: 0.9947 (Firefox) / Pro 1.3.1 (iPhone) Browser: Firefox 3.5

The NetNewsWire 2.0 iPhone application was released today, and it supports Instapaper, but much to my dismay, not Read It Later. Here's my suggestion: RIL should simply add Google Reader star support.

Let me explain. Let's say Read It Later somehow synced with Google Reader's starring system, rather than using the checkmark (maybe the checkmark icon could simply replace the star within Read It Later-empowered browsers?). Basically, anytime you star any item in Google Reader, that article would be synced with Read It Later, either instantaneously or the next time you opened the application. That way, if you use NetNewsWire to star Google Reader articles, no collaboration would be needed. This scenario assumes RIL is using Google Reader's API to allow users to connect their Reader accounts to RIL.

Is this even do-able?

    Hey Paul

If Google Reader's API supports grabbing starred items, then this is definitely possible.

I've added it to the list of ideas for developers here:

If you or another developer give it a shot and need any help, let me know.

    Thanks!

We currently have a webservice that does just that!

This service crawls the RSS feed of your starred items and sends them to Read it Later, together with this is a readinglist synchronised with Read it Later

It is in early Beta, but you can request an invite and we will hand them out over time.

We have updated the look and usability of our tool using the feedback from you, the beta-testers.

Giving away more and more beta keys!

But we were wondering, are there other things you want to see in a tool like ours?
